News from the Principal - September 2nd

Dear Prospect Hill Families,

As we get ready for another school year, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce some of our new staff members!

Lori Amer comes to us with over 20 years of K-8 classroom experience and will now take on a new role as the Library Teaching Assistant at Prospect Hill.  As an art teacher, especially with elementary school students, she often uses books and technology to enhance her art lessons and teach life lessons to her students. We are excited to have her as part of our Library Team!

Kara Weiss joins us as our Resource Room Teacher.  Kara has spent the majority of her career at Fox Run Elementary School in Norwalk, CT.  In Norwalk, she had the opportunity to work with students of all backgrounds and learning identities, serving as a Resource Room and Co-Teacher.  In her previous role, Kara has implemented the practice of Student-led IEPs, a student-centered approach to their involvement in the planning of their Individualized Education Plan.  Her student centered approach certainly came through during the interview process and we look forward to all the new experiences she will bring to Prospect Hill and Pelham!

To join our Kindergarten Team, we welcome Heather Beiner. This is Heather's 13th year as an Elementary Educator.  Over the past two and a half years she has worked at Leffell as the second and fourth grade Learning Specialist. Prior to that she worked as a leave of absence at Murray Avenue School in Larchmont.  She has also dedicated nine and a half years to the New York City Department of Education.  During the interview process it became clear that Heather has a strong commitment to developing relationships with her students and creating educational partnerships with parents.

Lastly, Ashley Miranda will join our fifth grade team.  Over the past few years Ashley has worked in PS 54 as a second and third grade teacher.  There she worked with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project to implement and assess curriculum and student data.  She was also an active member of the Math Team. Additionally, she was the first teacher at PS 54 to incorporate and teach Computer Science to second graders.  Collaborating with her colleagues is definitely something that she values and we are happy to have her as part of or team.

On behalf of the entire Prospect Hill Staff, we are looking forward to welcoming our families back to school!
